When I founded Communicraft in 2001, it was with a simple idea: to bring fresh thinking and real technical expertise to a digital industry that was still finding its feet after the dotcom boom and crash. More than 20 years later, I’m proud to say that ethos still drives everything we do.
Being shortlisted for Best Small Agency at the 2025 Spider Awards is a real honour—not just for the recognition, but because it reflects the work we love doing every day. We’ve always believed that great digital experiences come from putting people first, whether that’s our clients, their users, or our own team.
A Close-Knit Team
We’re still a tight-knit team of highly experienced experts in system architecture, UX design, web design and development, and strategy, and that’s by design. It means we collaborate closely, challenge each other, and share the same passion for building thoughtful, well-crafted digital solutions. Our clients—whether in professional services, fintech, culture, or public service—trust us to understand their needs, solve complex problems, and create digital platforms that last.
Innovation & Impact
At Communicraft, we’ve always believed that digital should evolve with the people who use it. That’s why we never stand still. Our philosophy, Digital Evolution, is about constantly learning, questioning, and refining how we approach design and technology.
For us, innovation isn’t about chasing trends—it’s about understanding real user needs and building digital solutions that make a difference. Whether it’s creating intuitive web applications like client portals, streamlining complex ERP integrations, or automating workflows for digital transformation, we focus on making technology work seamlessly and securely. Cybersecurity is built into everything we do, because great digital experiences should also be robust, reliable, and built to last.
The Work We’re Proud Of
Communicraft enjoys an excellent client and staff retention rate, taking pride in strong working relationships, being seen as an extension of our clients own teams. Longstanding clients such the National Treasury Management Agency, Sisk, Defence Forces Military Archives and Mason, Hayes & Curran are testament to the calibre of brands and web projects that we manage on behalf of our clients.
A recent example is our modernisation of the Military Archives website. We worked closely with their team to simplify and improve access to an incredible historical resource—bringing together 15 separate sites into one, streamlined platform that works for researchers, educators, and the public alike. Our work here has also been recognised by The Spiders Digital Excellence Awards in two categories: Best Website-SME and Best UX + Customer Experience
In the second quarter of this year we see some hugely significant projects go live online (watch this space!) including work that will make a genuine difference to the well being of people throughout Ireland, as well as hitting some key milestones in our continuing quest for improvement and excellence in all we do.
These projects, and many others, are why we love what we do.
Why This Recognition Matters
Awards are great, but for us, this nomination is about more than that. It’s about the people we work with, the problems we solve, and the relationships we’ve built along the way. Whether we’re collaborating with Mason Hayes & Curran, NTMA, Sisk, or the Defence Forces Military Archives, or giving back through pro bono work for organisations like Mendicity Institution, our goal has always been the same: to create digital experiences that make a difference.
Thanks to the Spider Awards for recognising what we do—and to our team, clients, and collaborators for making it all possible. Here’s to whatever comes next!
