As consumers, we have grown accustomed to seamlessly usable platforms in every aspect of our lives, and we expect the finance sector, an inherently complex institution, to follow suit.

Online trading and wealth management platforms have often lagged behind.

Davy tasked Communicraft with creating a completely secure and easy-to-use client portal for their clients to view and manage all of their investments in one place.

We developed a web application capable of harnessing data to provide clients with bespoke recommendations and forecasting visualisations based on their inputted goals, and we leveraged user research and usability testing to create an easy-to-use and aesthetically appealing user-experience on the MyDavy client portal.

This challenge represented a huge leap forward for trading and wealth management platforms and a digital transformation for Davy.

User-centred design for better client experience

The value of any product or service is increasingly determined by the experience it provides to the user. With financial apps and portals, there is the real risk of cognitive overload. It is not simply enough for an application to help users meet their goals, it must also provide an intuitive, easy-to-use experience for the client. User-centered design means that we never lose sight of the user and what he/she is experiencing while using client portals to achieve their goals. It’s a critical stage in our design & development process and involves user research and user testing.

Close collaboration with Davy key to success

Our UX and Design Teams created interactive prototypes to test that our features meet with stakeholders and users needs, and the degree of ease with which these new features can be used to achieve client goals effectively and efficiently.

With user profiles which included personas that would be more inclined toward personal or paper based interactions UX played a vital role in the production of intuitive interfaces to aid in client onboarding in a way which freed up in-person interactions to be more efficient and focused on client relationships through the automation of the more technical business processes.

Through a series of agile sprints our Angular and frontend developers work in collaboration with Davy's back-end development team to deliver and integrate these new features.

Usability testing was employed to measure the performance of these new features using defined key performance indicators (KPIs). Through our agile process we could readily adapt and iterate where needed to optimise the myDavy experience.

MyDavy has far exceeded commercial expectations in new user registrations and client usage rates, and represents a huge leap forward for trading and wealth management platforms in Ireland and internationally.
